Hilmer "Joe" Fierke Jr.
Hilmer "Joe" Fierke Jr., 84, of Battle Creek, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence. He was born on March 20, 1934, the son of Hilmer Fierke Sr. and Margaret (Jaffke) Fierke.
Joe served in the United States Air Force. He worked at Kellogg's for 37 years until his retirement in 1989.
Joe is survived by his Wife of 22 years - Joyce (Bavin) Fierke; Son, Douglas (Sally) Fierke; two Daughters, Kathleen Fierke and Joline Chaney; 7 Grandchildren; 9 Great-Grandchildren; Cousin, Eunince Slavoff; Daughter-in-law, Nancy Fierke; Close Friend, Mike Huerta. He was preceded in death by his parents, Son, Steve Fierke, Brother, George Fierke, and Sister, Laurene Fierke.
Joe had a passion for vintage cars and scooters. He could always be found in the barn. Joe loved to collect everything from coins, to cars, and any other antiques. He and Joyce enjoyed wintering to Florida and escaping to the sunshine. Joe was wicked smart with trivia, and also enjoyed antiquing on his quiet time. Above all else, his family was his life. He so enjoyed his time with them, especially his grandkids and great grandkids. The family extends its special thanks to Dr. Tim Fichell, of the Heart Center for Excellence in Kalamazoo, for his exceptional care during these past months.
