Obituary for Elsie May Simmons (Lutz)
Elsie May Simmons, 89, of Athens, Michigan, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018 at Bronson Battle Creek. She was born on September 12, 1928, the daughter of Harold M Lutz and Iva Ann (Owen) Lutz.
Elsie graduated from Athens high school. After school she got married to Marvin Lee Simmons and they began their family. She worked as the administrative assistant for Athens High School until her retirement. She also served on the Athens library board for many years and loved her duties. She and her family loved to go camping in Irons. Elsie enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycle riding and being outdoors enjoying the fresh air. She loved her family but absolutely adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Elsie is survived by her Son, Randy (Robin) Simmons of Scotts, MI; three Grandchildren, Julie (Kris) Kern, Dawn Simmons, and Lyndsey (Dan) Beckmann; eight Great-Grandchildren, Taylor, Maia, Zoie, Xander, Brayden, Broderick, Alyssa, and Ashley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Brother, Michael Lutz, and her Husband, Marvin Lee Simmons.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Thursday May 17, 2018, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A funeral service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Friday, May 18, 2018, at 11:00 am.
Interment will take place in the Burr Oak Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Athens Library.
