Obituary for William Lloyd Lee
William Lloyd Lee, 94, of Battle Creek, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 19, 1923, in Livingston, Tennessee, the son of Carlos Lee and Ethel (Carr) Lee.
He attended local school in Tennessee. For many years, he owned and operated his own truck. He then moved to Battle Creek in 1954 and worked for Clark Equipment in the fleet garage. His last position was director of Clark Equipment fleet of the truck and trailers. He took early retirement in 1978.
Lloyd proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army from May 1943 to November 1945.
Lloyd was an active member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Battle Creek.
Lloyd is survived by his Wife of 75 years - Mildred L. (Smith) Lee of Battle Creek, Michigan; Daughter, E. Carol (Robert) Gammons; Two Sisters, Lois Dean and Jane Wilcox; Brother, Perry Lee; Two Grandchildren, Rori (John) Ross, Jeff (Araceli) Gammons; Great-grandson, Teo Gammons; Three Great-granddaughters, Sofia Gammons, Kaylee Ross, Sydney Ross. He was preceded in death by his Father, Carlos Lee, Mother, Ethel Lee, Brother, Hamp Lee.
Lloyd was a big family man, he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed collecting clocks and fixing boat motors. He loved fishing, playing shuffle board, playing horseshoes, going to social clubs, and being a handy man. Lloyd spent 32 years wintering in Florida with his wife.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 6-8 pm.
A funeral service will be held at Baxter Funeral and Cremation Service, on December 20, 2017 at 12:30 pm with Pastor Adam Metzger of Lakeview Baptist and Chad Parmalee of Chapel Hill United Methodist officiating.
Interment will take place in the Fort Custer National Cemetery.
